Blendtec (4/10/2010)
Well folks, I have a brand new Vitamix and I LOVE it to bits!! 299 times ONLY in 6 months? That is not even twice a day I am using my Vitamix a minimum of three to four times a day ensuring the absolute freshness of everything I make and it is then eaten or drunk immediately and washing up is SO easy!

I have both a Vitamix and Blendtec because I have 2 houses and the Vitamix was too tall to fit under the cupboards in one house. So, I bought the Blendtec for it. The vitamix blades go to the bottom of the carafe and so the Vitamix will make small quantities, of e.g., salad dressings that the Blentec wiill not because the blades are too far off the bottom to pick up small quantities of contents. The Blendtec has a rubber gasket that gets hard and allows the blender to throw oil around. You can't just order a new gasket and fix it yourself, you have to send the whole carafe in for them to do it. My Vitamix is around 12 years old, and I've never even had to replace a gasket or have any other repair made for that matter. The Blendtec has so many goofy formulas that are very difficult to figure out while the Vitamix has variable speeds you can just simply control with the dials. Shop carefully and pay attention. The Blendtec carafe is easier to clean, but other than that, the Vitamix is hands down both the easiest to use and most durable
